Vancouver Dancers will be
“squaring” on into Holiday Dances this month.
An Open Boxing Day Dance will be held at the “Hayloft” o Monday,
December 26th, and most of the Clubs will be holding their Christmas
Parties a week or so before Christmas.
On November 18th, the “Tamaracks” went down to the
“Hard of Hearing League” party put on by the Quota Club, where they danced for
and with them, and as usual had a wonderful time with some of the happiest
people we’ve seen in a long time. We
were amazed, as we usually are when we go to their Annual Party, at the way
they pick up the various figures of the dances, and seldom have to be shown
more than once. It all has to do with
“vibrations” it seems, - from “touch” and from “The Floor”. Dick Cameron put them through their dances of
easy level, including a mixer, “Five Foot Two”, which proved to be a huge
success.
Pete Prentice had his “Totem Dancers”, who are a teen-age display
group, at the Grey Cup Football classic luncheon on Grey Cup Day at the P.N.E.
Building at Exhibition Park. They were
top entertainment at the Luncheon before the “big game”, and were, as usual, -
“really tops”. This group, their picturesque costumes are widely known for
their exhibition work.
ROUND DANCES WE ARE DOING:
* Silk and Satin
* A Happy Pair
* It Had To Be You
* The Happy Waltz
* Nellie
* Kon-Tiki
(seems we’ll never tire of thisone)
* The Wizard – (we’ve been
having fun with this one).
Latest news from “Aquaducker”,
Jean Cameron, is that she has received a request for applications for Aquaduck Badges from the overseas Army and Navy Square
Dancers and these are already on their way by Airmail.
Well, here we go again: Requests for
another Beginner’s Club. So – in January
another will begin. This one will be
sponsored by all Clubs in the “Hayloft”, and will act as a “feeder group” for
all Clubs.
